Horticultural Society

Do you want to enter the Horticultural Show this year?   If so please download the Show Schedule 2019 A4 and an Entry form 2019.   There are lots of interesting categories for adults and children so why not give it a go? Alternatively, visit the village hall in the afternoon to view all of the interesting entries and meet up with friends and family to enjoy tea/coffee and home made cake.

The Scarecrow competition proved popular once again and there was a brilliant variety of entries this year.

The Great Staughton Horticultural Society has served the local community on horticultural matters ever since it was first established in 1965. The Annual Show in late summer is the big event of the year covering flowers, vegetables, cookery, handicrafts, children’s classes and sundry items.

There is also a Plant Sale with cream teas in the spring and a Garden Talk in the autumn.  In addition, there are trips to gardens of interest and visits to member’s gardens. Meetings are held at regular intervals and new members are always welcome.

The Horticultural Society arranges a Scarecrow competition which now takes place annually. The deadline for scarecrows to be put on display is 24th June and judging will take place during the following week.

The next meeting is on the Wednesday, 24th July 2019 at 7.30pm at The White Hart. The main topic of the meeting will be the Annual Horticultural Show which takes place on Saturday, 24th August in the village hall. If you would like to be involved do please come to the meeting – everyone is welcome.
