Commemorative Plaque

Commemorative Plaque

Great Staughton Parish Council has commissioned a plaque to be placed on the wall of the pavilion in the playing field  to commemorate those lost in the 2 world wars.  It will contain the names of those with a connection to the Parish who died in those wars. The plaque will compliment the existing plaque placed in 1956  which dedicated the field as a memorial to those lost in the wars. This is a particularly appropriate year as it is the 75th anniversary of the end of the second world war.  The Parish Council is very grateful to the help of Nick Orchard and the sponsorship of the plaque by Photfab.

The plaque will be formally commissioned at a short ceremony on Sunday 13th December at 2.30pm.

It will consist of the following

  1. A short introduction and the Exhortation from myself as Chair of the Parish Council

  2. Playing of the Last Post

  3. A brief period of silent reflection

  4. The reveille

  5. Blessing of the plaque by the Vicar

The Covid restrictions must be obeyed appertaining to the tier 2 requirements. This means even outside the rule of six applies. I would though not want to stop any relatives or Parishoners from attending if at all possible. The Playing Field is a large area and there must be no mixing.  If you do attend you must keep a safe distance from everyone else, please ensure  no groups of more than 6 are formed and social distancing is maintained at all times.

If you have any queries please contact me.
